How does an e-book work?

Today among us you can meet quite a lot of reading enthusiasts. Is it always convenient to carry a paper version of the work? This problem can be easily solved using an e-book!

What is an electronic book, the principle of its work

An electronic book is a special compact device for reproducing digital material, most often in text format. The reader has access to the Internet and a personal computer, which is connected via a USB cable. Thanks to these features, files are stored in the device’s memory.

The reader is based on the use of electronic ink. The screen of an electronic book consists of microcapsules, each of which is filled with oil and a charged particle. Under the influence of electricity, some particles rise up, others remain below, black and white dots are aligned in the required sequence. An image appears, namely the text, which does not differ in appearance from the paper version. In addition, this technology allows you to make such devices thin and flexible in structure.

Important! The reader's display does not light up like LCD screens, making it look almost like real paper. Scientists argue that using an electronic ink device has less impact on the deterioration of human vision. The maximum resemblance to real paper and the lack of backlighting on the display will help maintain eye health!

EBook features

The device can be used not only for playing texts. Modern "readers" have more and more useful functions:

  1. Reproduction of text files, and in all known formats: from the usual DOC, to the least used HTML and RTF.
  2. Ability to work with documents. With such a device, you can easily view the text, leave the necessary comments, bookmarks, and also switch from one file to another. You can go forward several pages and go from one sheet to another.
  3. In the book you can download not one literary work, but tens, hundreds and even thousands of books and documents. Often, as a bonus, software developers download several interesting and popular pieces.
  4. Play audio tracks and videos with settings for viewing and listening.
  5. The ability to access the Internet through a wi-fi system, and transfer data from a PC.
  6. View images in any format with their rotation at your discretion.
  7. The ability to use applications such as a voice recorder, radio, calendar, dictionary, etc.

Important! Built-in functions include setting fonts, backlight level, etc.

How to use an e-book

The reader should begin with the preparatory phase. The e-book brought from the store must be charged. This can be done using the cable that comes with the device. Connect the reader to the computer or restore the charge using the adapter, wire and outlet.

Important! The first charge should last at least 12 hours, later this process will be shorter. A full notification will warn you about a full battery charge. Please note that the gadget stores a charge much longer than a tablet or smartphone. This applies even to situations where its use occurs daily.

At the end of this amount of time, you need to press the power button and turn on the device. The book will start loading and a menu will appear on the screen with the ability to select one or another function. The choice of device can be controlled using the sensor or buttons.

Now you can do the loading of books. You can do this in several ways - using a USB cable, memory card or network library. If you select the first or second option, the device displays an external data storage device - disk. There you can create folders, upload files of various types, etc. In terms of using network libraries, you will need an Internet connection.

A memory card deserves special attention, for it there is a special slot in the case. It is necessary for those who intend to upload a lot of large files.

You can scroll through the pages in the same way as you can work in the menu - using the buttons with the corresponding signs and images or the sensor in the direction from right to left, as in ordinary reading.

An important feature of any e-book is the presence of the "Search" function, it will allow you to find the required file or function in the shortest possible time.

If you are going to listen to music or watch movies on the reader, you can use two types of sound reproduction - speakers or headphones. The connector of the second option is standard - 2.5 or 3.5 mm.

Now you know that in the modern market you can find such a miniature device equipped with various useful functions called an electronic book. The main thing is to use it correctly, and then life will become easier and more interesting!
