How to ventilate a room without opening a window

In the buildings of the "Stalin era", where very high ceilings and an elaborate system of ventilation ducts, breathe easily and without opening windows. Modern apartments, office premises only boast plastic windows, construction and decoration materials that release toxic substances into the air.

Keeping the windows constantly open is not an option:

  1. In winter, heated air is replaced by cold air. If the house has autonomous heating, when the temperature drops, the heating automatics will turn on, the monthly gas or electricity consumption will increase.
  2. In offices and offices of institutions, an open window is the risk of losing a valuable employee: he will fall ill and go to the "sick leave" at the most inopportune time.
  3. Outside the window there is a noisy motorway, a railway track, a working plant for days. I just don’t feel like opening the window to breathe the exhaust.
  4. Emergencies, which, unfortunately, became commonplace: burning garbage, smoldering leaves in the fall, forest or peat fires.
  5. The room is basement. Even if there is a park outside the window, all the rubbish will fall into the room.
  6. In wards of hospitals, intensive care units are people with weakened immunity. The slightest draft will provoke a deterioration in well-being.
  7. There is a small child and it is not safe to open windows wide.

Ready-made solutions

Lack of oxygen - the problem is solved. Full-fledged climate units, ozonizers or special air intakes on the windows are offered by manufacturers in a wide price range.

The valve is window

Window valves - "nozzles" on the frame, allowing you to ventilate the room without opening the transom. Serious window manufacturers equip them with products during manufacture.

Window valves are made:

  • automatic;
  • working in manual mode.

This is the simplest device for ventilation - a visor with a net outside and inside the room. There is a valve that can be adjusted either manually or automatically.

Tip. The shutter also works with increasing humidity inside the room. This is a good solution for unopened windows in the bathroom.

When buying, you can choose a model with sound insulation, blocking sudden gusts of wind, with a mosquito net.

Breather, air conditioning

Ventilators, or breathers, win fans thanks to simple and quick installation, budget cost. A through hole is drilled in the wall for air intake. The air intake remains outside and the distributor inside. A stream of fresh air is directed along the walls, there are no drafts in such rooms.

The width of the breather does not exceed the width of a standard office document, the height is not more than half a meter. The part visible from the side of the room is made in different colors. Due to the rounded shapes, the device turns into an additional decoration of the interior.

Main advantages:

  1. Intuitive operation: the mode is set on the display with the press of a single button.
  2. Low power consumption.
  3. Silent work;
  4. Timer;
  5. Cleans from dust and pollen (important for allergy sufferers), debris in the wind;
  6. There are models that heat the incoming air flow;
  7. The simplest installation, which does not require cosmetic repairs.

Conventional air conditioners save people in the heat. Often they shift the function of air purification. The disadvantages of this method:

  • chilled air creates the illusion of clean air: it is easier to breathe in a cool room;
  • to breathe fresh air, you need to clean the filter at least once a day (for office premises).

Important: air intake was carried out by old window air conditioners. Modern models only ventilate the airspace. Fresh oxygen is not supplied.

Humidifiers, cleaner, ionizers

This is a whole class of devices that provide climate control of the room. All functions (and aromatization as a bonus) can be combined in one device. But on sale there are devices that perform only one task.

Purpose of purifiers is to clean air from dust particles, humidifiers - to saturate dry air with water molecules, ionizers - to get rid of germs and bacteria, to increase the amount of oxygen suitable for breathing.

Purifiers are used in the work:

  • electrostatics when dust particles are attracted by an electromagnetic field;
  • simple filters, usually carbon;
  • distillation, where the air stream is driven through an oily liquid, and large particles of debris settle;
  • chemical catalysts during which toxic impurities decompose and oxidize.

Air washers (purifier + humidifier), even expensive models, are noisy in operation, require careful handling, special additives. It’s hard enough to clean. Humidification is possible only by using additional special liquid, and not ordinary ice (as is found in full-fledged climate-control models). Yes, and ergonomics are lame: the remote control is usually not provided in the kit, and the display cannot be turned off at night.

Ozonizers are good because they kill pathogens, neutralize unpleasant odors. But they can be used in work no more than 20 minutes for one living room. And after ... it is recommended to ventilate, or not to enter the room for some time. Oxygen ions irritate the mucous membranes, a common symptom: sore throat.

Thanks to the variety of techniques that maintain the cleanliness of the airspace in the room, one is able to breathe fully and without opening windows. The main thing is to understand the principles of operation and properly operate the device.
