TV flashes

A variety of factors affect the quality of a television image. One of the most common defects that customers turn to repair shops is the so-called screen light. Depending on their size and location, the master can judge the causes that caused them and plan further actions.

They are spots of various sizes, which are invisible against a light background, but, significantly stand out against a dark one, causing the effect of increased brightness in a certain area.

You can find them even at the purchase stage, to do this, upload an image that is completely black and carefully inspect the screen (it is desirable that the external lighting is not too bright, ideally it should be complete darkness, so it will be necessary to create suitable conditions at home and check the TV a second time). As a rule, such a simple test is enough. If the highlights appear later, you can be sure that they were not there when you tested the capabilities of the TV.

REFERENCE. The larger the diagonal of the screen, the more clearly all defects are visible on it, including light.

They also include a uniform glow around the edges of the picture, noticeable in the dark on dark images. This is a feature of EdgeLED models that is not considered a marriage, so if it matters to you, do not purchase such models.

Such defects may have started even in the process of assembly of the device.

REFERENCE. If for one reason or another you were not able to do the test in the store, and the light appeared within two weeks after the purchase, you can simply exchange it for a new one.

Also, light spots in the dark parts of the image may appear after a considerable amount of time. They originate in the work of backlight LEDs (if we are talking about modern LED-TVs), or in the microprocessor responsible for their work. If in one of them there was a failure due to a mechanical or non-mechanical reason, the light is distributed unevenly across the screen, which is why light is formed. The only way to prevent this is to respect the technique, it is necessary to protect it from dust, moisture, shock and falls.

In fact, in most LED TVs, the light is not a defect, but a manufacturing feature (we will discuss their differences later), which was completely eliminated when releasing devices with OLED technology.

If the defect is not pronounced, it can be corrected independently by ordinary reconfiguration. While watching TV in the dark, it is recommended to reduce the brightness of the screen, this will not only help reduce the visibility of the light, but also reduces eye damage. If the menu has an adaptive backlight option, turn it on, and then the necessary brightness will be set automatically, depending on the ambient lighting.

Using the maximum power saving mode and the light sensor can also help. If the light represents a vertical strip moving behind a bright object against a dark background, turn off local dimming in the advanced image settings.

However, if the defect is so large and bright that it significantly distorts the perception of the full image, then the TV needs to be repaired or replaced.

IMPORTANT! A defect is the light that can be seen even in bright external lighting and not only in black. If it is visible only in the dark, this is considered a feature of the model, which was discussed above.

It is not recommended to carry out repairs on your own, since the slightest mistake can lead to irreparable consequences, in the best case new light can form, in the worst - the TV will completely become unusable. A professional master will be able to determine the cause of the defect by the size and location of the defect and act directly on it, without the risk of damage to other elements.

The only mechanical action that in some cases helps to eliminate light and which you can do yourself: slightly loosen the bolts on the back cover and put the TV with the matrix down.
