DIY circular saw table

The circular is a powerful mechanism that boasts good maneuverability and performance. There are no disadvantages that can be avoided if you make the design.

How to make a table for a circular saw

Creating a table consists of several stages:

  1. Creating a project plan. You need to measure the space, and choose the appropriate size of the structure.
  2. Purchase of materials. In the same step, the necessary saw is selected.
  3. Phased assembly of the structure. Everything is done according to the drawings.

Materials and Tools

We will need the following materials and tools:

  1. Particle board or plywood sheet, 20 mm thick.
  2. Tool with blade disc.
  3. 5x5 cm block to create legs. The cross section may be smaller if it is planned to create a saw of low power.
  4. Varnish or primer.
  5. Solutions for protecting wood from water.
  6. Glue for wood.
  7. Self-tapping screws.
  8. Drill and drill set.
  9. Screwdriver.
  10. Jigsaw.
  11. Milling machine.
  12. Clamps.
  13. Roulette and marker for marking.
  14. Plane.
  15. Sandpaper.

Reference! Also, one should not forget that the circular saw is equipment that runs on electricity. That is, we need a power source in which it will be connected.

Measurements and drawings

Work begins with the creation of design drawings. In this step, the width and length of the table that is being created are measured. The average is 120 cm wide and 120 cm long. The following materials will be ideal for creating the foundation:

  1. Plywood.
  2. Chipboard.
  3. OSB.
  4. MDF.
  5. Chipboard.

We do not consider a metal base, since the material is more expensive, and the weight of the structure will increase several times. Of all the materials, plastic is considered the worst, and experts do not recommend it.

Before starting assembly, all wooden elements must be treated with solutions that protect against moisture and decay. After the material has dried, you can begin work.

Attention! It often happens that due to improper installation of the saw, which is installed under the countertop, the table is hung on one side. The blade must be installed in the center of the table.

Important points when working

There are some security requirements. They will help prevent injuries in the workplace. The requirements are as follows:

  1. Before turning on the saw, you need to check the reliability of the clamps. If necessary, tighten the fasteners.
  2. Very often the cause of injury is a large number of unnecessary things at the place of work.
  3. It is necessary to check the correct operation and fastening of all parts of the system. If there is a problem somewhere, you need to fix it immediately.
  4. Do not hold material close to the place that is being sawn. This is dangerous because knots and shavings can get on exposed parts of the body, as well as in the eyes. Therefore, in the process, you must use glasses and clothes with sleeves.

DIY table saw table: step by step

The creation process consists of the following steps:

  1. The material must be marked using a tape measure and marker. We saw patterns with a jigsaw.
  2. Now we mill the edges.
  3. We take sandpaper, and process the surface, making it as smooth as possible.
  4. Now you need to turn the countertop over, and make markings of the place where the sole for the saw will be installed. This is done as follows, the tool is placed and the sole is encircled. Delete the disk. Using a milling cutter, we make a hole from 0.5 to 1 cm (depends on the length of the sole).
  5. Now we need to measure the saw and the notch. Mark the latches and the slots for the cutting tool.
  6. The next step is to create stiffeners. They are made on the basis of 5x10 cm boards. They need to be arranged so that the distance to the edge of the countertop is about 10 cm. The board is applied to the countertop with the smaller side. On the one hand we make a stroke, and on the other you need to transfer the markup.
  7. Now you need to mark the position where the screws will be mounted. We drill holes for them. Mounts are installed every 100 - 150 mm. We make them relative to the length of the stiffener.
  8. Now you need to mark the longitudinal stiffeners and cut them. We use glue to fix them, and also press them with clamps. After these stiffeners have dried, install the side in the same way.
  9. Now you need to install the clips. For this, self-tapping screws are used. Clamps do not need to be removed. We tighten the structure with self-tapping screws around the perimeter. We made holes for them in step 6.
  10. We set contraction for stiffeners. We use self-tapping screws, the length of which will be longer than the length of those used to fix the ribs. After tightening the countertops, you can remove the clamps. Now we have a finished countertop.
  11. The next step is to make the legs. To do this, take a wooden beam. The length of the legs can be any, the main thing is that they provide comfort during operation. The average distance between the countertop and the floor is 120 cm, and the length of the legs should be less by a few centimeters.
  12. We cut out the legs and apply them to the countertop. Their location will be a little disputed. We fix the bars with the help of bolts (we install them on the outside of the stiffeners).
  13. You can increase stiffness by making a few extra ties between the legs. For this we use a bar.
  14. Now you need to mount the disk plate. We install it inside the hole that we prepared. It is important that the disc enters the slot without obstruction. Fasten the sole with bolts.
  15. We cover the table with varnish or primer. This will reduce glide.
  16. You can install additional items. For example, a protective cover, a dial tilt adjuster, or a carriage.
  17. With minimal knowledge in electronics, you can bypass the start and stop buttons of the saw. These buttons can be installed in a convenient place (most often on the outside of one of the stiffeners).

If you have minimal experience in creating such designs with your own hands, you can easily make a table for a circular plate. The most important thing is to securely fix the saw, regularly check all fixtures, and adhere to safety precautions.
