How to mount a heated towel rail to a wall

Currently, manufacturers of towel warmers present a large number of options on the market. At the moment, it is very easy to choose an item of the right size and design. However, in order not to make a mistake in your choice, it is worth correctly installing and firmly fixing the device. To this end, you need to use the services of a plumber or try to install it yourself.

Types of heated towel rails

When choosing a device, pay attention to its dimensions - they must correspond to the parameters of the bathroom. Nowadays, it is possible to purchase heated towel rails of various sizes and shapes. There are units with a diameter of 2.5 centimeters. Most often, such samples are in the form of the letter "M" or "P". When the diameter is 4 centimeters, they are exclusively U-shaped and very rare, because the production of such models is a more time-consuming and costly process.

REFERENCE! Most often, preference is given to heated towel rails of 3.2 cm diameter, they are considered standard.

One of the main differences between different models of heated towel rails for the bathroom is the shape. It happens:

  • Horseshoe. Perfectly complements the room, made in the style of minimalism. It looks stylish and takes up little space.
  • Form "E". Neat, elegant, without any frills.
  • Stairs. More in demand than other species. Suitable for installation in any room.
  • "M" is figurative. It looks like a snake and those models that were put in every house in the past.
  • The snake. It is mainly used as a decor, but fulfills its purpose. Looks great on a dark wall.
  • With shelves. A model where shelves are inserted into one part of the device. Useful in that you can hang or put objects on it.

Also heated towel rails are:

  • water - the most common, connected to hot water supply, less often - directly to the heating system;
  • electrical - work, as the name implies, from electricity, by the type of connection they can be with open or closed wiring, and the role of the coolant is water, oil or antifreeze;
  • combined - they can be simultaneously connected to a water supply system and a heating element.

REFERENCE! Before attaching the heated towel rail, it is necessary to coordinate its connection with the public service.

Mounting Methods

There are differences in the method of mounting heated towel rails:

  1. Stationary. If you attach the device by choosing this method, it will be strictly fixed - its position cannot be adjusted.
  2. Turning. With the swivel mounting option, the heated towel rail can be rotated 180 degrees relative to the mounting surface if necessary. The role of the seal during installation is performed by rubber rings. Counting on active use, you should choose the highest quality models.

The place where the heated towel rail will be attached is determined before purchase. Such an approach makes it possible to more accurately understand the necessary parameters and appearance. Choose products to which fastenings in a set are applied. If there are none, purchase them yourself. Procedure:

  1. Prepare the mounting base. If necessary, dismantle the previous unit. To do this, turn off the water and unscrew the nuts with a pipe wrench, then carefully remove it from the wall and remove the old mount.
  2. Unpack the device and equip it with holders. To do this, you need a screwdriver. As soon as the necessary components are used, the device should be correlated with the place of future location. Make markings on which you will drill. For accuracy, use a level. It is better to fix the heated towel rail using someone else's help.
  3. At this point you should drill the holes of the required size. Use different drills for tiled and concrete surfaces. Insert plastic dowels into the holes made.
  4. Attach the mount to the device.
  5. At the end, connect the heated towel rail to the domestic hot water system or to the heating system.

Electric towel rail mount

First you need to fix the heated towel rail to the wall (as mentioned above). Next, you have a choice: connect the device through a junction box or using an outlet. If a socket has been selected, then you need to think about security - it must be waterproof and be located away from water. If from the junction box, then you need to take care of the output wires in the right place when installing wiring in the bathroom.

After the product is installed, it is necessary to connect the wires to the terminals of the device. First disconnect the switchboard. Insulate the wire connection point. Check that everything was done efficiently - to shake the case, making sure that the installation in the wall is reliable. Turn on the switchboard and make sure that it is working.
