How to easily clean a stove grid

In the process of daily cooking, various food substances and fat get to the surface of the stove. Therefore, the device requires constant care. And if cleaning the work surface does not cause questions and problems, then putting the grates in order can cause difficulties.

Gas stove grids are made of various materials and they need to be cleaned in different ways.

Before starting to wash the product, it is necessary to prepare suitable cleaning agents. The grate itself must be removed. So water and detergents will not get inside the burners.

It is necessary to clean the product carefully, so do not rush. Under the influence of high temperatures, contaminants burn out strongly on the surface of the product, therefore, they require soaking.

Cleaning the cast iron grate

This material has its advantages and disadvantages. Cast iron has excellent thermal conductivity, so it reduces cooking time. Moreover, it is a very fragile metal, which is extremely unstable to mechanical stress. It must not be hit or cleaned with metal brushes.

You can clean this option in the following ways:

  • The heating. This procedure is preferably carried out in open space. If this is not possible, then it is necessary to turn on the hood and open all the windows and balcony doors. Calcination is required to be carried out over an open flame. During heating, the most basic pollution will disappear. The rest can be easily removed with ordinary cleaners;
  • In car dealers, special tools for washing the engine are sold. They can also be used to remove dirt. They are absolutely safe and at the same time perfectly cope with pollution;
  • Hot steam. This procedure can be performed using a steam generator. If it is not, then you can take a baking sheet, pour water into it and put in the oven. Then place the grill in it. The product must be left in the oven for about 15 minutes.

Steel grate cleaning

The steel grill is made of stainless steel, which is resistant to mechanical stress. It can be easily cleaned in the dishwasher. But it is not always available. Therefore, you should use the following methods:

  • Since the product is resistant to abrasive substances, you can use river sand, soda and a metal sponge;
  • There are cleaning products, acid content. They need to be evenly applied to the entire surface and left for several hours, or better - overnight. After that, you just need to thoroughly rinse it under running water;

To make the next procedure as easy as possible, you can cover the grate with a special solution. You need to take the powder, PVA glue and soda in a ratio of 1: 2: 6. Having mixed all the ingredients, they must be applied to the product. Next time, the product simply needs to be rinsed under water, since all the dirt will settle on the solution.

Enamelled grid cleaning

Enamel is a very soft material, so scratches easily appear on it. It requires careful handling and the use of gentle cleaning products. For cleaning, you can use:

  • Melamine sponge. Despite the fact that it is quite expensive, the sponge is able to easily and effectively remove existing impurities. It is only required to wet it and thoroughly wipe the surface of the product;
  • You can also use mustard powder or 9% vinegar. It is necessary to prepare the appropriate solution and soak the product in it. After 2-3 hours, it needs to be removed and rinsed in running water;

Whatever material the grate is made of, when cleaning it, you must follow a few recommendations:

  • During the procedure, gloves should be used. Household chemicals have a detrimental effect on the skin;
  • All cleaning agents must be used in accordance with the instructions on the packaging. To achieve the desired effect, they must be applied evenly and fairly thickly;
  • It is advisable to wipe the product after each cooking. So the dirt does not have time to dry out and it can be removed quickly enough and without difficulty;
  • The grate must be allowed to dry, since dust and dirt stick to a wet surface much better;
  • Correctly selected dishes will help prevent pollution. For example, it is advisable to take a frying pan with high sides, and use a lid when cooking. So fat will not be sprayed on the surface of the plate and burn on it.
  • Do not press excessively with a metal sponge. Otherwise, scratches will appear;
  • It is contraindicated to soak cast-iron grids in liquid solutions. This material is extremely poorly in contact with water, this can lead to the formation of cracks;
  • You need to clean only the cold grate;

After the procedure is completed, the grate must be dried. If this is not done, a new layer of dirt will very quickly stick to the damp surface.

If you clean in time and follow all the recommendations, the surface of the stove will always be clean, and the resulting dirt can be removed without much effort.
