Replacing the antenna jack on the TV

Before repairing or replacing the antenna socket, you need to carefully study the causes of the breakdown, as well as familiarize yourself with the replacement procedure.

When to replace the antenna jack

It happens that the antenna socket of the TV fails, there may be several reasons for the malfunction.

1. Often, when moving equipment, they forgot to remove the antenna plug from the connector on the TV.
2. Sometimes pets, playing with the cable, loosen the connector, thereby removing it from working condition.
3. This part breaks due to the switching of several cables from various signal sources.

The process of repairing the TV antenna jack

If the socket comes off and the conductor is broken, which is located in the center, but partially its element is located in the tuner board. The following actions must be carefully done:

1. The cover of the device is removed.
2. So turn the board to make the soldering process convenient.
3. Nearby capacitors that interfere with the opening of the lid must be bent, the same can be done with the side strips located next to the lid, thus pulling it back and removing it.
4. It should be marked with labels, how the covers stood, it is important not to confuse them, as they are equipped with contact slats.
5. After removing the closing elements, proceed to repair the old connector.
6. A wire is soldered to the central contact core.
7. To the protruding connection, the wire is bent before soldering, for passing into the existing hole located on the device board.
8. The remaining central contact is thoroughly soldered with a cleaned soldering iron. Everything must be done carefully in order to avoid tin flooding near the parts located, make sure that they do not shift.
9. Before the sealing process, the place where the conductor is installed is inspected very carefully, as a rule, planar elements are soldered there.
10. It is important to choose the right angle when heating the conductor so as not to touch the print pad.
11. Next, the conductor element is carefully removed, this is done with tweezers.
12. Then the updated connector is inserted, the wire at the same time gets into a special opening on the device board.
13. Next, the tuner is soldered to the body of the socket, then the main conductor.

If there is no desire to repair used connectors, then you can replace it with a new product (where there is a whole central conductor). Sometimes there is a ledge on the flange, at the point of soldering the base of the socket, in some cases it needs to be cut.
