Keyboard - a connected external device. With non-integrated devices, problems often occur. Do not be afraid that the computer does not see them. This situation is not catastrophic and can be corrected.
Why the USB keyboard does not work at boot time
This situation is familiar to the following categories of users:
- who decided to independently update the version of the Windows operating system;
- picked up a virus or trojan that changed settings or blocked some functions of the computer;
- uninstall the keyboard driver.
If none of the above factors is suitable, there remains a software failure and a breakdown of the "keyboard". Most often, the wire and plug fail. Be sure to inspect them for visible integrity violations.
How to fix the problem
First, you should check the operability of the keyboard itself. To do this, simply connect it to another computer. After the connection, the automatic installation of drivers should normally start. If this does not happen, and the device is not detected at all, then most likely it has failed.
Important! Before drastic measures, do not forget to download and run the utility. Perhaps the cause of what is happening is a virus attack.
If during the verification the problems are not found, it means that to fix the bug it will be necessary to contrive and gain access to the main computer (not the one on which the performance test was conducted). Some actions can be done with the mouse, for others you have to connect a wired keyboard. For example, it is needed in Bios - for the next item in solving the problem.
Once there, look at the settings for USB Keyboard Support and / or Legacy USB Support. Opposite them should be set to "Enabled". If something else costs, change to the correct option, then save the changes and return to the operating system.
If after this step the computer continues to not see the keyboard, then try disabling the fast boot mode. The action is performed as follows (path):
- the control panel opens;
- Select "System and Security";
- transition to the branch "Power - Actions of the power button - Parameters of shutdown";
- in the last opened section, the checkbox with "Enable quick launch" is removed;
- changes are saved.
After that, it is advisable to reboot the device. Ideally, the keyboard problem on this should be resolved. If not, then you should seek help from specialists.
