Types of beds

The bed can no doubt be called our best friend. How many wonderful moments, minutes and hours we spend on it! Sometimes alone, but sometimes it’s not. But do we know everything about our friend?

What are the types of beds

To date, beds are divided according to such signs.

By type of construction

Due to the peculiarities, all sleeping places can be divided into different types, according to one or another sign. If you look at the design, you can distinguish:

  • Recessed beds;
  • The beds are not recessed.

From the name you can immediately understand that the built-in must be embedded somewhere. As a rule, in walls, niches in rooms and all sorts of other places, to save space.

Not built-in - just stand in the room. In most apartments, you can find a similar type of model.

Built-in type, can be divided into:

  • Transformers or just folding. They use lateral or vertical lifting. If the bed is not needed, then it can be hidden without difficulty;
  • a bed - a podium - the most optimal choice in small rooms. The bottom line is that an elevated podium is being erected in the room. Inside it, you can slide the bed, which has wheels. Thus, in addition to a berth, we also have a convenient workplace;
  • mobile, transforming - usually with such beds a children's model range is presented. The bottom line is that one of the beds can hide under the other. As a result, the sleeping area expands and you can get a place to relax for two children.

Non-recessed beds can also be divided into several categories:

  • a bed is a folding bed. Most of these models have a base with orthopedic effect. If necessary, such a bed can be easily hidden;
  • sofa - transformer - depending on the time of day, it can turn from a sofa into a beautiful bed;
  • the classic type of bed - it has four high, sometimes low legs, you can calmly install a canopy on them;
  • an ottoman is a wide sofa, which can be both with a back and without it.

In addition, we can distinguish the following varieties of classification based on design features:

  • Hard beds;
  • soft beds;
  • twisted beds - these types have a special coating, inside which there is a filler.

All of them have the same characteristics, so the choice of a particular model is only a matter of personal tastes of each person.

By the number of places

Everyone knows how beds are divided by size. Graduation depends on the number of beds:

  • Single beds (size 80-100 centimeters);
  • one and a half (size 140-150 centimeters);
  • double (size 160-200 centimeters).

It is necessary to consider when choosing the length of the structure. It should focus on human growth. And add another thirty centimeters to this value. Equally important is the height. Do not take low beds. They are intended for older people and it is difficult for an ordinary person to get up from such a bed.

By age

Sleep is health! In order for the sleep to be truly healthy, the bed should contribute to this. So you need to pick it up wisely. The choice of bed depends largely on the age of the person. With the adult category, questions, as a rule, do not arise. The size of the place for sleeping is in the range of 90 by 200 centimeters and reaches 180 by 200. But the children cause a lot of trouble and make you think.

Let's try to deal with the variety of children's series of models.

  • Baby cradle - it is required for newborn children and only the first six months of their life. Then you have to buy another option, since the child will already grow out of this. The classic version is a comfortable place to sleep, there are adjustable bottom and grille. This is a huge advantage that will make life easier for mothers. The main thing is to choose a small lattice so that the child’s fist passes, but the head could not. Care should also be taken to a mattress with a grid support. Since children often use a bed instead of a trampoline, the base of the crib should not bend. Buy a hard mattress, it is more useful than soft. The soft base harms the baby's still fragile body. This model is intended for children up to two years. This model is intended for ages from 6 months to 2 years.
  • Manege - this is similar to the previous model.
  • Sleeping place for a preschooler - purchased for a period of two to six years, the child, in these years he is more active, mobile. The most popular model was the loft bed. This place is not only for sleeping, but also for playing.
  • School option - requires a child from six to thirteen years old. The size is already approaching the standard 90 by 200 centimeters. This type can be with two floors, but there is no play area in it.
  • For a teenager - required between the ages of 13 to 18 years.

By the availability of additional equipment

Today, the buyer is no longer satisfied with just a place where you can plop down after a hard day. Not! Give them something unusual. So what else can you find in the beds?

Therefore, designers create beds with drawers, built-in bedside tables or shelves, panels. So to speak - a multifunctional bed.

Bottom type

Structures were taken into a separate group according to the type of their foundation:

  • to solid - include species that are a box, with a mattress laid inside. Models with a flat bottom. Usually prefabricated, and most often plywood. The downside is the complexity of the movement of air inside, which causes excess moisture to accumulate;
  • with armor is a variant of today. They have a breathing mattress, without retaining moisture, and this model brings more benefits. The fact is that lamellas create an orthopedic effect, due to which a person’s sleep is stronger and healthier.

By type, frame material

Beds can be divided according to the material used in the frame:

  • tree is the best and safest;
  • metal - require coating with a special alloy against corrosion;
  • combined species - a hybrid combination of metal and wood;
  • with plastic and glass;
  • based on particleboard or MDF - these are the most budget models, the main thing is to carefully look at the quality and absence of harm from the material.

By type of head, foot

To avoid slipping the pillow, a stop is required, so it is better to take models that have a headboard. All the headboards can be structurally divided into the following types:

  • low or high headboards;
  • not having gaps or with gaps;
  • there are soft and hard headboards;
  • can be simple or with decorations;
  • rectangular or square in shape;
  • the headboards may have an irregular shape, as well as a semicircle shape.

There are three types of headboards:

  • the headboard may be monolithic with the body;
  • can be mounted on the wall;
  • sometimes attached - these are all kinds of bedside cabinets and ottomans serving as the headboard.

The foot is called the second back. Do you personally need it. This is a question for you personally. Now most models come without a foot. It is very convenient. A man in a dream does not interfere.

In shape

Today, models of the most diverse form are produced. As a rule, models for one person and one and a half have the shape of a rectangle. For two people there is a square shape of beds. But there are also quite non-standard types in the form of an oval or circle.

Round beds, although they correspond in size to a place for two people, are only suitable for those who like to sleep alone. The two of them are uncomfortable.
