DIY oil burner for boiler

One of the major environmental issues is the disposal of used engine oil. A huge amount of this product is consumed annually, and often improper disposal causes irreparable damage to the environment and therefore many experts are busy finding a solution to this problem. One of the methods is the use of waste oil as fuel for the operation of heating systems.

Can I make an oil burner with my own hands

One of the main components of any boiler is a burner. All of them differ from each other in the purpose and, accordingly, in the design and materials that are used for their manufacture. Some burners are used for diesel fuel, others for gas. There is a separate class of burners designed to burn used engine oil.

The principle of operation of this device resembles the principle of operation of kerogas, that is, the treatment is heated to the evaporation temperature, then these vapors are burned up. The allocated thermal energy is directed to heating the coolant.

Necessary materials and tools

The design of the burner is not very complex, and a person who has the skills to work with a welding machine and locksmith tool is able to independently make it. To make it, you need to stock up the following material:

  • steel pipes with a diameter of 20 and 50 mm;
  • steel sheet 4 mm thick;
  • steel bars diam. 8-10 mm;
  • expansion tank;
  • pipeline accessories;
  • heat-resistant sealant;
  • asbestos cloth.

To obtain the necessary parts and assembly of the finished product, you will need specific tool:

  • welding machine, preferably an inverter;
  • angle grinder;
  • bench tool;
  • a screwdriver or an electric drill.

How to make an oil burner for the boiler yourself: a step-by-step guide

The assembly order of the device is as follows:

  • A cylinder with a length of about 1000 mm is made from a pipe of a larger diameter. A cylinder 250 mm long is made from a pipe of smaller diameter. Steel plates are cut from a sheet of steel. A hole of 20 mm is cut out in one of the plates, in the second it is necessary to prepare a hole with a diameter equal to the chimney.

Important!

To make a cylinder, you must use a grinder.

  • In the next step, the manufactured plates are welded to the ends of the cylinder. In this case, a plate with a large diameter hole is installed upward, a pipe of the corresponding diameter must be welded to the 20 mm hole. For stability of the structure, legs are welded to the body. For this, reinforcing bars are used. In the pipe, which is a small diameter pipe, it is necessary to drill ventilation holes.

As a result of the work performed, a cylindrical body with a reservoir located below will be obtained.

  • In the upper part of the body, install a chimney.
  • In a pipe of larger diameter using a grinder, a door is cut out. It is cut out at the bottom of the cylinder.

In order to rekindle oil, it is necessary to fill in the drain through the door and bring the wick up. This is the structure of the most primitive construction. But it can be finalized, that is, set up a consumable capacity for working out, understaffed with a fuel pump and mounted a water circuit.
