A steam generator is a modern electrical household appliance designed to generate directional steam for the purpose of disinfection and cleaning of the processed object, as well as with the ability to quickly iron out any type of clothing. The last version of the device in its function resembles an ordinary iron, only of much greater productivity. In this article, we will talk about such steam generators, i.e., designed for steaming laundry.
There are 2 main types of steam generators - with and without a boiler.
This type of device contains in its design a reservoir (1 or 2) for water. Models of this type are the most expensive and high-quality, allowing you to steam clothes from a variety of materials and cope with deep creases of linen.
The principle of operation of the device is as follows. Water poured in is heated in a special container to the working temperature. After that, it moves through the tube to the working surface. Here, additional heating occurs, the conversion of water into steam and discharge through the openings of the base under pressure. This ensures the optimal steam supply mode - it turns out to be dry and hot.
If the steam generator is equipped with one boiler, then refueling and heating occur within the same tank. If there are two containers, then water is added to one of them, and in the second it is heated. Such generators are able to enter the mode somewhat faster than devices with a single tank.
Such devices do not have a built-in boiler. Instead, they are connected to an external drive through a hose through which water is supplied directly to the work surface. Here there is an instant heating and turning it into steam. Thanks to this principle of operation, the steam generator can come into operation much faster from the moment it is turned on.
First of all, it is much more compact and lighter, since it does not have a built-in reservoir with water, which has a high density, and hence the mass.
Secondly, such a device can immediately begin to produce steam, immediately after plugging it in - it does not need to wait until the water inside the tank warms up to the desired temperature. Instead, from an external container, unprepared liquid is supplied to the sole of the device, where it is heated directly to the desired state and steam is released under pressure.
Last and important property - This type of appliance is cheaper.
Despite the fact that the quality of steam in steam generators with a boiler is considered to be better due to the higher temperature and low humidity, in fact the quality of ironing is not significantly improved. In any case, smoothing the laundry with a steam generator without a boiler is very different from the results of working with an ordinary iron.
If you need to perform ironing in the normal iron mode - without steaming, it will be more convenient and more familiar with a steam generator without a boiler.
