Why the monitor on the laptop does not turn on

Today, high-tech devices are in demand in all spheres of human activity. Computers and laptops are essential for work and leisure. Any device has its own expiration date, and sometimes it happens that the equipment fails at the most inopportune moment. Monitor malfunctions are not uncommon, and the cause of their malfunction is often not immediately identified.

To get started, you should familiarize yourself with the list of malfunctions. Regardless of which laptop company, the damage is about the same. Among the main reasons, the following options can be distinguished:

  • mechanical damage to electrical circuits and matrix;
  • malfunction of the decoder;
  • malfunction of the video card;
  • lack of backlight due to burnout of bulbs.

However, the problems are not always associated precisely with the internal device of the monitor and the violation of its functioning. It happens that the reason lies in the system settings. In this case, you should check the brightness settings, accidentally switching on the mode without backlight (pressing or sticking a key with a crossed out rectangle), connecting drivers and a RAM module.

If you are faced with this situation, you need to identify the reason that led to the monitor turning off. To do this, you need to inspect the laptop and conduct a comprehensive diagnosis. But do not rush to call the master. Here are the basic steps that you can perform yourself:

  1. Checking the connection to the network and current source: the condition of the socket, power supply and all wires.
  2. The presence of external defects of the housing.
  3. Image adjustment in the main menu.
  4. Normal operation of all drivers and video cards.

In most cases, the malfunction is easily resolved using the usual settings, but there are situations more complicated.

IMPORTANT! If you doubt the possibility of self-repair, then after identifying the reasons, it is better to contact a service center. It should be understood that improper operation with the equipment can lead to serious damage and harm to health.

Testing the display by connecting an external monitor

For accurate diagnosis, you can use an additional screen. Connect an external monitor to your laptop and evaluate its performance. To do this, with the device turned off, connect a second monitor, and then turn everything on to the network. If after launching it displays a picture, and the first screen does not show anything, then the problem lies in its matrix or loop. Most likely, during operation, they were damaged, resulting in a violation in their work.

Reset

Perhaps the easiest way that you can perform yourself is to reset and reinstall the system settings. To do this, follow the instructions:

  1. Disconnect the device from the network.
  2. Remove the power supply and battery, and then hold down the power key for approximately 20-30 seconds.
  3. After all basic settings are reset, turn on the equipment again.
  4. From the proposed boot mode, select the standard inclusion of the system and wait for the result.

In case of troubleshooting, such a reboot will solve the problem, and the monitor will again display the picture in standard mode.

BIOS reset

More difficult will be the BIOS reset. There is an option to change the configuration using the keyboard due to hot keys. The main difficulty is choosing the right moment at which the mode changes from F9 to F10. It will be more reliable to remove the special battery responsible for the system, however, for this you need to disassemble the laptop case.

IMPORTANT! Perform this manipulation very carefully so as not to damage the adjacent boards.

Reinstalling the RAM module

In case of improper assembly or liquid spillage into the equipment body, the installation location of the RAM unit should be examined. To correctly perform the actions, you must follow the operating instructions that came with the laptop:

  1. Unplug the equipment and remove the battery.
  2. According to the instructions, open the fastening point of the RAM strip. Disconnect the cover, and if it is missing, disassemble the place on the computer case with a screwdriver.
  3. Remove the circuit board by sliding the special retaining clips.
  4. Clean the unit from dust and blow out the contacts.
  5. Reinstall everything in reverse order.

After the manipulations, try to turn on the laptop again and check its operation. In case of failure, try to seek help from specialists.

A problem with turning on the monitor may also occur when the PC wakes up from sleep mode. If the picture does not appear after activating the computer using the mouse or keyboard, you should check the following parameters:

  • driver installation;
  • work of video cards and boards;
  • setting up a mouse or keyboard to wake the laptop from sleep mode.

IMPORTANT! To maintain proper functioning, the latest software must be installed.

If the reason is more serious, you should contact the service center for help and describe the problem. Sometimes a thorough repair takes a long time to complete a repair.
